Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Box Office and Tickets Sales Predictions

Marvel Studios will be looking at the next few days with fervor and excitement, as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania makes it way to movie theaters across the world. What they will be most interested in, is just how well the first film in Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe performs at the box office, and the number of tickets sold for the sequel.

Recent tracking means we can make some predictions as to how much Quantumania will bring in, both domestically and internationally. Please remember that predictions are not dead certs, and could be slightly, or even way off the mark.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania box office domestic predictions

At the domestic box office, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is expected to bring in between $95 million and $100 million across the traditional weekend (via Variety). This could swell to as much as $110 million through President’s Day on Monday, February 20. The early mixed reviews for Quantumania, however, may have a small effect on those takings.

Despite the buzz surrounding Phase 5’s debut, the latest Ant-Man offering isn’t managing to match up to recent Marvel releases such as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which both took in over $180 million domestically on their opening weekends.

What is encouraging for Marvel, however, is that Quantumania will outperform the original Ant-Man film, which raked in $57 million, and the sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp, which enjoyed $76 million. Overall, Box Office Pro suggests that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will bring in somewhere between $249 million and $347 million at the domestic box office when all is said and done.

Internationally, Quantumania has an advantage on many of its Marvel predecessors, in that it will be playing in Chinese movie theaters. There, it is projected to bring in between $35 million and $55 million, which brings its projected international box office takings over opening weekend to somewhere between $130 million, and $190 million.

This all combines to a predicted $255 million box office debut, which showcases Marvel’s pulling power at the movie theater. Despite this new Ant-Man movie being the 31st entry into the MCU, it is clear that they still have a healthy audience willing to buy tickets and head to the movies.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be released on Friday, February 17, 2023.
